The weather outside may be frightful but your skin doesn't have to be... Thought I'd share a few steps I take to maintain glowing skin in spite of the harsh winter weather.
Drinking water has so many health benefits but who knew it had beauty benefits as well? Although hard evidence in support is not exactly abundant, we know dehydration causes dry and wrinkly skin which must mean proper hydration prevents that. So drink up this winter for the glow up, lol.
When the air is colder and drier, a.k.a. during the winter, we lose moisture in our skin. And that is exactly what we don't want. Exposure to humid air helps to maintain supple and glowing skin. Because humid air is not exactly abundant in the winter, it helps to use a humidifier or staying in the bathroom after a shower can solve this.
Moisturize right after your shower!
One of the wrong habits I picked up from boarding school was the art of moisturizing in 20 seconds. My sister, who went to the same boarding school by the way, managed to come out on the opposite side of this spectrum. I make fun of her that her shower routine is like a spa session. I guess the jokes on me coz she is right.
Give your skin some tlc especially during the winter, taking the time to massage the oils into the skin. And don't forget your lips, hands and feet. They're often neglected, yet very vulnerable. Coconut oil is my go-to moisturizer this winter.
Our skin cells die out faster in the winter. Exfoliating helps replenish the skin and improves the effectiveness of moisturizers. These are a few of my fave exfoliating tools at the moment.
