If you have a number of excuses for why you're not accomplishing your goals, don't just ignore them; deal with them. You probably want to check out my previous post "Get Out of the Way" if you haven't already, for a little more context.
One of my biggest excuses was time. I got to a point where I felt like I was the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland--always running out of time and not getting nearly enough done. You can imagine how horrible that can be for your creativity. Not only did I not have time to blog, I definitely was in no frame of mind to think about content. And I certainly wasn't getting anywhere with my other goals.
After my aha moment, (see previous post "Get Out of the Way") I noticed while I was at work that random ideas come to me throughout the day regarding my goals--even when I'm focused on something else. So I began to write down those ideas in one of my notepads and before leaving work, I'd tear that page off and put it in my purse.
The same thing happened the next day. So I made up my mind to pick up a notebook after work and keep it in my purse at all times. There's just something so intentional about writing something down with a pen; you can't just backspace or select all and cut. Once you've written it, you can either cross it off or it'll keep staring at you. lol
I'm only on day 2 but I'm already amazed at all the stuff I've written down and I'm asking myself how many ideas like these have I missed because I told myself I'll do it later, and just never remembered?! Now I'm not saying be distracted while you're at work. When I'm at work, my goal is always to give it 100%. But taking down notes are sort of my way of creating a to-do list of things I can work on after work to achieve my goals.
Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:2
We're more than half way into the year and I'm so grateful that I've been able to check off so many amazing things from my list, but I'm also refusing to be content and just sit back and relax. I know there is so much more I can do and this is my way of living by one of my favorite quotes:
Do something each day to bring you a little closer to your dreams
