"I'll rise up and I'll do it a thousand times again"...
I was listening to the song "Rise up" by Andra Day a few weeks ago, and that line struck a chord with me and inspired this post which has been sitting in my "Drafts" for a while now, but here it is...
Failure is a hard thing to cope with. People talk about the importance of learning to deal with failure, but I can tell you one thing, failure is easier to "deal" with when you have successes in between. When it seems like you're going from one failure to another, it gets harder and harder to see that infamous light at the end of the tunnel and pick yourself up yet another time.
But after you've cried yourself to dehydration, asked countless whys, stayed in bed all day feeling sorry for yourself, wondered why you're still here--where you picked yourself up from the last time, you realize life goes on. So you dry the tears, shut the pity party down and refrain from asking questions you don't have answers to. You rise up and keep going even harder than before.
Many times, we beat ourselves up for failing but its more important to rise back again after a fall. And no matter how many times you have to do it, you've gotta keep doing it. 10 times, 100 times, 1000 times... whatever it takes. Till you get it right, till you get to where you need to be.
