Just a few years ago, taking a picture of oneself came across as vain or self-absorbed. But now that it is a viral trend, we all indulge in it, and quite often, might I add. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good selfie! Sometimes you're just in a moment or feeling some type of way that you wish could last forever and you want to share that with others and heck other times its not that deep; your hair or makeup could be looking so good that you want it to go on record. Ain't nothing wrong with that in my book.
How many selfies do you have in your photo album?
I have a little over 100 out of 1000 photos in my photo album. I could say that's not bad, its just 10%, but that is still 100 photos of myself.
And I can't help but wonder...
At what point does this trend go beyond a good time to breeding narcissism? How many photos does one need of oneself? How many is too many? What does this urge or craving to photograph oneself say about one's self-image? Does it just promote a healthy dose of self-esteem? Or does it stimulate the growth of conceitedness?
